Christmas

I decided to be nice to Austin and let him have Desi again for Christmas this year, even though it is supposed to be my Christmas with her. So this year it's just me and Mike again. But that's ok. It's just going to be a relaxing day of doing nothing. We had a good time last night having dinner and visiting with our close friends Juliann and Mercedes and Juliann's daughter and grandson, Penny and Andres. Here's to another relaxing Christmas with my Hunnie :-) Merry Christmas to all my friends and family!

Holidays...

So, in short, I'm a total scrooge. I admit I hate holidays...mostly Christmas. They are so commercialized, overrated, and don't have their true meaning anymore. I guess it's a good thing that Desi gets to go to her Dad's for Christmas... that way she doesn't have to deal with Scrooge Mc-Duck Mc-New... Anywho... Here are a couple pictures of just how much we get into Christmas around here....
(yes...yes... this is our Christmas tree that I worked so hard on putting up and decorating today...)
(I admit I do love Christmas lights... but, this is about all I can stand since I know that I'll be the lucky one taking them down.)
(It's a good thing Santa doesn't have boobs or wear pink.. Neither would be a good look for him)

The Devil and the Dinosaur

For Halloween Mike, Isaac, Desi and I went trick or treating with one of our neighbors, who happens to have a couple kids that are Desi's friends from school. We had a great time and glad we got to go with them.

He's baaaaaaaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaccckk!!!!!!

Isaac Paul is back to visit us here in AZ for a little while. We are all excited! Especially Desi. And he is extremely excited to see Desi. He'll walk around with his arms out going 'De-si?' when she's at school or not in the same room. We've already started to have fun!

Oh! And Miss Desi-do got her hair cut!

A Hiking I Will Goooooo....

The other day on my day off I decided I would go to Lake Pleasant and do a little hiking. Lake Pleasant is the lake here in Phoenix that everyone goes to for boating, hiking, etc. I hadn't been hiking in close to two years.. yea... I'm convinced this was God's way of telling me I'm out of shape... But I managed it.. I did 3 miles round trip. And it was so peaceful. I was the only one on the trail..well except for the wild burro I came across and the numerous fast little lizards or whatever I saw.(I have to admit at first I was a little afraid of the wild burros... But then I realized if I didn't do anything to them they would leave me alone. So all I did was snap pictures of them while they watched me) But I had fun and am actually considering making hiking a more frequent thing. But note to self-don't go when temperatures are close to 100 degrees... makes for a hot hike! Here are a few pics I took while hiking.

Happy Birthday.... TO ME!

So this past Monday October 3, I turned 27. Do I feel 27? Nope. Do I care? Nope. I still feel young so that must mean 27 is still young! :-) Last year on my birthday Mike took me up in a hot air balloon ride. Nothing can top that yet since that is something I had been wanting to do for a VERY long time. But this year was still pretty awesome. Since my birthday was on a Monday and because Desi had cheerleading that she couldn't miss on that Monday we decided to do the celebrating over the weekend. So, on Saturday, Mike got my nails and a pedicure done for me. I LOVE getting pampered! He took Desi for me so I could just relax and not be rushed or stressing about what kinda stuff she's getting into at the nail place or the fact that she doesn't shut her mouth for 2 seconds(LOL). So since they were out doing their thing still when I got done I went and did a little shopping at Kohls. I happen to get some awesome deals. I got a pair of jean shorts(which I haven't worn in probably 8 or 9 years because I usually can't find any that work with my legs..) which cost me all of $2.80. I also got 2 tops at less than $4 a piece, and OF COURSE a pair of shoes, which cost me $24(they were originally $60 shoes). I couldn't complain! So,then that night Mike and Desi took me to our favorite cajun restaurant in Phoenix, Baby Kay's. Had some yummy Etouffe and Green Olive Coleslaw. A nommy birthday dinner.
Sunday Mike took me to get my hair done. It had been about 6 or 7 months since the last color. The girl I had at Beauty Brands did a great job. Love my cut and color. While I was getting my hair done Mike and Desi went to Trader Joes... They brought me flowers while there.
Then on Monday I had to work all day and then take Desi to cheerleading. Afterwards Mike made dinner and he had brought home my favorite cupcakes: Sprinkles!!!
All in all I must say I had a great birthday. And I have the best boyfriend and daughter ever.

Ohhhhh... and I forgot to mention that I bought myself a birthday present:
a MacBook Air! I <3 it!!!

What Oh What Will She Beeeeeee.......

I often like to wonder and think about what Desi is going to be when she grows up or what she is going to want to do as she gets older... She so diverse now as it is. She tries to negotiate everything we tell her...Sometimes we think Lawyer for that reason. Then we wonder if one of these day's she's going to be so excited that she's going to flap her 'wings'(arms) and fly away like a bird. But that's just a couple examples. Well, she's decided for now she wants to be a cheerleader! Last night I took her and signed her up for cheerleading last night. She got her red and silver pom poms too. She's super excited! And I'm fairly certain she's going to be a good little cheerleader with all her energy and enthusiasm! Gooooo Desi!!!!

Where were you on 9/11/01?

I can remember I was in my 11th grade locker room, just changing back into my clothes after gym class when they announced something over the intercom... It was so muffled in there that it was hard to understand it, but as soon as I was in the hall way I could walk by every classroom and they had the tv's on and the attack was being shown. I remember being in shock every time I saw it replayed.Still to this day it's heartbreaking to see and remember everything that happened :-(

Apple

Sooo... about a monthish ago I decided it would be a good idea for me to go back to work since Desi is in school and all. And plus having the extra income would be good to have again. I've loved being a stay at home mom. It's been a blast. But with Desi in school it gets a little boring. Plus, things haven't worked out the way we wanted them to with getting Isaac more often unfortunately. Hopefully that will change in the near future. And at that point we will figure something else out. So anyway... I decided that I would just use my career searching website that I used when I was previously trying to find a job:

My tactic: Find jobs I'm qualified for and apply. The nice thing about that website is that most of the jobs you search for will just go with your resume. So all you do is submit resume and you've applied for the job... Kinda nice and easy... I admittingly(is that a word??) applied to over 30 jobs. I figured it couldn't hurt anything. Well, every now and then i would come across some that I actually would be redirected to the company website and have to fill out all their application plus submit my resume... I admit, I was feeling lazy a few of the days and anytime I would come across one of those I would just say, nah.. and click out of it. Well this one Sunday I saw the 2 jobs that were for a stay at home position for Apple. When I clicked to apply I was redirected to apply on their site... At first I was going to continue to be lazy and not do it. But I figured, eh it's a stay at home job...maybe I should at least try for this one. So I applied... one of the jobs was for a Apple Service Expert and the other was an Apple Adviser. Honestly, I didn't think I would get either but figured, what can I loose by applying. Well probably about a week or so later I received an email from one of the Apple recruiters saying that they wanted to set up a time for a phone interview.. So I set it up for the next day. That phone interview went well and the guy told me he wanted to move me forward with another phone interview. That was set up for 2 days later. That went well and from that point I was set up for an in person interview (since their people were flying here to Phoenix). That was set up for a couple days later. I was so nervous... I'm never nervous for interviews. But the interview went well. And within a few days I received the email to start my background check... I started to get my hopes up and a little excited... But then when I didn't hear anything for over a week and half I began to doubt. So today I received a call from one of the guys offering me the job!!!! So I will be an Apple Service Expert and the best part is I get to work from home!!!! I will be making almost a dollar more than I was when I left my old job. And the best part-I won't have to be using up tons of gas and mileage on my car!! WOOO HOOO!!! I'm sooooo excited! This totally made my crappy week that I have had so much better! I can't wait to be able to still be at home and actually be working! :-)

First Day of School

Yesterday, the 15th, my munchkin started school(good thing she was excited to start since she had her b-day the 14th and the next day started school). She was extremely excited! And she told me she had a good day and that she was quiet and listened. Needless to say she saved it all up until she got done with school because she didn't close her mouth for a minute after I picked her up. Oh well! All that matters is she had a good day and I hope she has a good school year!
